Ferguson Honors Fallen Police Officers

Congressman Drew Ferguson’s (R-Ga.) today spoke during debate on the House floor on a bill that would authorize the use of the Capitol Grounds for the annual National Peace Officer’s Memorial Service and the National Honor Guard and Pipe Band Exhibition. This annual event is a part of Police Week to honor the men and women who lost their lives in the line of duty in the past year.

“The brave men and women in our law enforcement community put their lives on the line every day to keep us and our loved ones safe,” said Ferguson. “Too often they pay the ultimate price. I am proud to have played a small part in honoring that sacrifice today.”

Ferguson also spoke on two additional bills on the House floor today. One of these bills would designate the United States courthouse located at 501 East Court Street in Jackson, Mississippi, as the “R. Jess Brown United States Courthouse” and the other would authorize the use of the Capitol Grounds for the annual Greater Washington Soap Box Derby in June. All three bills passed the House.
