Ferguson Votes to Combat Opioid Crisis
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Drew Ferguson recently voted in favor of H.R. 6, the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act. This legislation combined dozens of bills aimed at combatting the opioid epidemic.
“This massive effort reflects the hard work of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to find ways to fight back against the ravages of this disease,” said Ferguson. “There is no congressional district that has not been touched by opioid addiction. We must face this growing epidemic and its disastrous consequences head on, which is exactly what this bill does.”
This legislation would:
- Advance treatment and recovery initiatives for those battling addiction.
- Bolster efforts to fight deadly illicit synthetic drugs like fentanyl.
- Protect communities and improve prevention efforts.
The bill passed by a vote of 396-14 and now heads to the Senate for consideration.
