Press Release
WASHINGTON D.C. – Congressman Drew Ferguson (R-Ga.) today voted to pass H.R. 849, the Protecting Seniors’ Access to Medicare Act. This bill would repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) which was created under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and given the unilateral authority to alter Medicare policies, which could restrict seniors’ access to healthcare.
“As a healthcare provider, it is unthinkable that unaccountable government bureaucrats should have the ability to determine a senior’s healthcare decisions,” said Ferguson. “Patients, not the government, should be at the center of our healthcare system.”
The bill passed the House by a vote of 307-111.
