Ferguson: It is our Duty to Support Veterans
Washington,
May 23, 2019
WASHINGTON, DC – This week the House of Representatives passed nine bills that would improve the lives of America’s veterans. These bills cover a wide range of issues impacting our nation’s veterans from mental health resources to successfully transitioning back into the civilian workforce. “22 veterans die by suicide every day,” said Congressman Drew Ferguson (R-Ga). “We cannot sit idle as the brave men and women who defended our nation continue to suffer from mental and physical wounds long after they return home. These bills create more resources for veterans struggling with their mental health and make it easier for folks to access their educational benefits and successfully transition back into the civilian workforce. Our veterans have sacrificed so much to protect the freedoms we hold so dear, and it is our duty to ensure that they have the resources and benefits they earned to help them lead happy, healthy and productive lives.” The bills now head to the Senate for consideration.
