Dear Friends,

I hope everyone had an outstanding Mother’s Day weekend! Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate the incredible strength, wisdom, and compassion that moms provide. Their dedication knows no bounds. I thank my wonderful mother, my beautiful wife Julie, and all moms across the country who make such a lasting difference in our lives.

Drew in the District
It was great to be in Thomaston last week to meet with local businesses and discuss the issues they are facing. A big thank you to the team at Interfor for the amazing tour!

Interfor is one of the world’s largest high-quality forest products companies with operations across North America and customers around the globe. I am grateful for their input and will continue fighting for our local businesses in Washington. Thanks for having me!

Today, I was thrilled to be in Columbus, where I met with Columbus State University President, Dr. Chris Markwood. Our discussion ranged from federal funding opportunities to academic partnerships.
Thanks for the visit!

Celebrating Our Small Businesses
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. As a small business owner for more than 20 years, I saw firsthand the devastating impacts of government overregulation, which drive my commitment to ensuring that the federal government creates policies to empower businesses instead of increasing burdens. I will remain committed to advancing policies that allow these businesses to do what they do best – create jobs and put Americans to work!

Demanding Answers on Biden’s “Disinformation Governance Board”
Directed by President Biden, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas created the “Disinformation Governance Board.” This action is just more proof that President Biden and Democrats are more concerned about suppressing free speech than addressing the border crisis or reversing skyrocketing inflation.

This is unacceptable. That’s why on Thursday, I joined many of my House Republican colleagues in sending a letter to DHS Secretary Mayorkas expressing our grave concerns about the Biden administration's plans for this board. The DHS should be focused on combating terrorism and securing our border, not suppressing free speech liberties of Americans.

And the Winner Is….
I’m pleased to announce that Leah Ross, a senior at Trinity Christian School, as the winner of the 2022 Congressional Art Competition for the Third District. Leah bested over 70 other young artists, and her artwork, titled “Shattered Emotions,” will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.

I really appreciate all the students, parents, teachers, sponsors, and everyone else in our community who made this year’s art competition a great success.

Judges Top 5:
  • 1st: Leah Ross, Trinity Christian School, “Shattered Emotions”
  • 2nd: Megan Grabhorn, McIntosh High School, “Madonna's Angel”
  • 3rd: Hayden Bunn, Starr's Mill High School, “That Guy”
  • 4th: Antonia Perciaccante, McIntosh High School, “The Morrigan”
  • 5th: Madison Ivey, Bowdon High School, “Trying Times”
Additionally, this year’s winner of the People’s Choice Award, which was decided by the public via online vote, went to Hayden Bunn, from Starr's Mill High School, for the piece “That Guy” and will hang in my Newnan District Office for the next year!
I’m proud of all our participants and the immense creativity and talent showcased by their submissions. Click here to see a full list of results.
