Last week, the Bureau of Economic Analysis released estimates that our nation’s gross domestic product (GDP) decreased at an annual rate of 1.4% in the first quarter of 2022. The report marks the weakest showing in GDP since the pandemic recovery began, and it’s the latest example of how Joe Biden’s policies are hurting Americans.
With inflation increasing every month of Joe Biden’s presidency, hardworking folks are paying more for just about everything. Despite inheriting a growing economy and promising that President Biden's so-called American Rescue Plan would “yield significant economic returns,” big-government Democrats have given us labor shortages, record inflation, and anemic growth.
It's clear that economic recovery was yet another broken promise from Democrats.

| Protecting Georgia Students |
Last week, I sent a letter (posted below) to the Georgia Department of Education alongside my delegation colleagues to raise grave concerns about its politically motivated lesson plans in the Peach State.
Disturbing reports exposed that the Atlanta Public School system has coordinated with Stacey Abrams' New Georgia Project and Rock the Vote to transform students with a radical “voting rights” curriculum. The goal of the project, which has included nearly 2,500 high school students so far, is to galvanize opposition to Georgia's election reform law.
Simply put, parents should not have to worry about activists or groups indoctrinating their children with a political agenda in the classroom.

| A Bad Week for the Border |
The Democrats’ open border policy agenda has created the largest wave of illegal border crossings in our country’s history, including over 1.5 million border encounters in the last six months alone. For the past year and a half, President Biden has both demonized border patrol agents and dismantled enforcement of our laws at the border by imposing catch-and-release, ending construction of the border wall, and refusing to fully implement both the “Remain in Mexico” policy and Title 42.
What’s even more concerning is that the Biden Administration continues to be blind to the problems weighing on American families. In fact, last week Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas claimed the U.S. has "effectively managed" the ongoing border crisis while blaming COVID-19 and climate change for the situation.
We have seen the results. Let’s just look at a recent stat: Over 221,300 illegal immigrants were encountered at the southern border in March, the highest total in the history of the Department of Homeland Security. Contextually – that is more people than the total number of residents of Newnan, Peachtree City, Carrollton, Griffin, LaGrange, and Zebulon combined.
It’s clear the escalation of the southern border crisis has been caused by President Biden's harmful and misguided policies. Now it’s about to get much worse as the Biden Administration fights to terminate Title 42. According to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) memo, the number of illegal crossings is expected to triple if Title 42 ends in May.
It’s long past time to secure the border, fix our immigration system, and put Americans first.

It was great having visitors in the U.S. Capitol again! I truly enjoyed meeting this 8th grade school group from Georgia’s Third District to answer their questions and talk about what it means to serve others.
As a reminder, my office is limited to only 1 tour of a maximum of 15 people per week under these current guidelines, and we highly encourage Third District residents to submit requests as far in advance as possible.
Additionally, tours of the White House have resumed. These tours are available on Fridays and Saturdays between 8:00 AM and 12:30 PM, excluding federal holidays and are subject to change based on inclement weather and the White House's event calendar. Be advised that White House tours must be requested at least 21 days prior to the requested tour date, and my office does not determine which requests are accepted.
