Dear Friends,

I hope you and your family had a blessed Easter with loved ones. As we celebrate this holy season, we reflect on the love of God and our faith during this time of rejoicing and renewal. This year, the message of renewal and rebirth rings especially true as we all have experienced challenging times over this past year with the global pandemic.

Setting the Record Straight

Having a free and fair elections is the foundation of our democracy. Governor Brian Kemp and our state legislators worked to pass an election integrity law to address issues arising from the 2020 election, secure each and every ballot, and provide broader access to voters while still securing the integrity of the ballot. Unfortunately, what Delta Air Lines, Major League Baseball, and other corporate CEOs in the Peach State are saying about the new Georgia election integrity law is simply wrong, and they ought to be ashamed.

Last Thursday, I sent a letter to Delta CEO Ed Bastian following his false comments on Georgia’s new election law. His shockingly inaccurate and irresponsible assessment of the law was a blatant and misinformed attack on the election integrity law.

Here are the facts:

  • Voters will be able to vote by absentee ballot with no excuse.
  • Large precincts will be required to add voting machines and election personnel to shorten voting lines.
  • The number of early voting days were and two mandatory Saturdays were added, with the option of two Sundays for all localities.
  • Voter ID requirements to secure the ballot box will be included and simply call for either a driver’s license or free state ID number.
  • Drop boxes will be available in every county at early voting sites to ensure the integrity of the process.
  • Drinking water is not banned in voter lines as has been reported, it just can’t be distributed at the polls by political groups advocating for votes.

We should no longer accept the false choice between voter access and voter integrity. We must demand and achieve both. Georgia’s new law goes a long way toward accomplishing that. I stand with Governor Kemp, Attorney General Chris Carr, and our state legislators in fighting back against this coordinated disinformation attack on our state’s election law.

I joined them on Saturday at the Gold Dome to set the record straight and called on Delta and Major League Baseball to apologize to every Georgian for robbing these folks of paychecks and opportunities. Click here to watch my remarks.
