Dear Friends,

On Friday, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that nearly 190,000 people were apprehended at our southern border during the month of June, a 450% increase from last June. Biden's border crisis worsens with each passing month, and this surge is yet another sign that the Biden administration is failing to keep our country safe.

While President Biden denies the reality of the situation, criminals, drugs, victims of human trafficking, illegal immigrants, and more continue to pour into our country.

It’s clear that Democrats' far-Left agenda has only further opened America’s borders to drugs, crime, and chaos in an effort to undo the Trump administration’s successful border policies.

Honoring Congressman John Lewis

Saturday marked the one-year anniversary of the passing of a Georgia giant and American hero —Congressman John Lewis. While John and I didn’t always agree on politics, his contributions to our state and our nation are undeniable.

John was a civil rights leader who garnered the respect of all who knew him, and whose first priority was lifting up those around him.  He was always a gracious friend and colleague who led with a humble heart, and his tenacity will be remembered for generations to come.

Hyde Saves Lives
Despite four decades of bipartisan precedent, President Biden’s 2022 budget calls for the repeal of the Hyde amendment, which prevents federal taxpayer dollars from being used to pay for abortions. This shouldn’t be controversial. Americans across the nation agree that it is just plain wrong to use taxpayer dollars to fund abortions.

Without question, the Hyde Amendment has saved lives, and I remained committed to fighting to protect the unborn and promote a culture that values and treasures life at every level.

Hearing From You

Recent surveys show that concern over crime has reached its highest level in four years, and the percentage of Americans who say crime in the U.S. is “extremely serious” has reached its highest point in two decades. Throughout the last year, many Democrats have been calling to “Defund the Police,” a dangerous concept that I have consistently spoken out against. Clearly, there are consequences to this radical way of thinking.

Here are the facts:

  • In Atlanta, rape, assault, and vehicle thefts have increased by more than 30% compared to last year.
  • The New York Times reported an 18% INCREASE in murders compared to the same time period in 2020 out of a sample of 37 cities with data from the first three months of the year alone.
  • There have been 128 officers shot so far in 2021, 26 of whom were killed by gunfire.
  • There have been 27 ambush-style attacks on law enforcement officers this year, a 50% INCREASE compared to the same time period in 2020.
  • Police resignations are up 45% and recruitment is down – a dangerous trend for the safety of our communities in the future.
  • According to the FBI’s Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted database (LEOKA) fatal felony attacks on officers are up 39% through May 2021 compared to the same time period in 2020.
  • Shootings are up 126% in Portland, 64% in New York City, 51% in Los Angeles, and 40% in Atlanta compared to the same time period in 2020.

I want to hear your thoughts on this important issue.

Providing Additional Pandemic Assistance to Livestock Producers

Georgia’s chicken growers and livestock producers help feed Americans every day and are a vital part of our nation’s food supply. Last year, Congress worked in a bipartisan manner to provide additional assistance to navigate the challenges and financial losses faced amid COVID.

Unfortunately, there was a delay, which is why I joined a bipartisan, bicameral letter to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) requesting the department expedite the rulemaking process to administer direct payments to contract chicken growers. I am pleased to share that the USDA finally recognized our concerns to ensure fair payments to family farmers and agriculture producers through the Pandemic Livestock Indemnity Program (PLIP).

Affected livestock and poultry producers can apply for assistance through USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) starting tomorrow, July 20, 2021 through September 17, 2021. If you or other Third District farmers need help applying for this vital program, please call my district office at 770-683-2033.

We’d be happy to assist you. Rest assured, I will continue advocating for our nation’s agriculture industry.

Georgia State Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black (R) is the only prominent candidate to have announced his campaign, though he did so recently enough that he has not yet had to file papers with the FEC. Several others — Reps. Buddy Carter (R) and Drew FERGUSON (R), state Sen. Burt Jones (R), House Speaker David Ralston (R) and former Sen. Kelly Loeffler, whom Warnock beat in 2022 — have all considered adding their names to the ballot also.

Reducing the hot air in Washington state, and Washington, D.C.
Newnan Times-Herald
This new development at the Congressional level can only propel us even further. Republican Congressman Buddy Carter gave an interview last month on how real the change in climate is to his district on the coast. It is only a matter of time before more jump on board as evidenced with the latest addition of our own 3rd Congressional District Representative, Drew FERGUSON. The changing climate is real and our economy depends on conservative climate solutions.”
