Dear Friends,

Throughout his campaign and since day one in office, President Joe Biden promised the American people that he would “shut down” COVID-19 and that all Americans would “have access to regular, reliable, and free testing.” Biden has failed to deliver on each of those promises and continues to fall far short of meeting the needs of the American people. This administration has been marked by complete incompetence in responding to the pandemic.

It’s clear that they are now a day late and a dollar short in countering the surge of the Omicron variant. Even worse, Congressional Democrats passed a trillion-dollar spending bill in March of 2021, and only 9% of it went to combatting COVID-19. Biden is bankrupting our country and wasting hard-earned dollars on far-Left priorities that do not address Americans’ pressing public health needs. That’s the very reason why I voted against the measure.

We need to get Americans back to work, get teachers and children back in the classroom, and get our economy back up and running. Unfortunately, the President has decided to push a radical big government socialist agenda.

The federal government has also now seized control of important therapeutics used to fight the virus, picking winners and losers when it comes to selecting how much of these life-saving treatments specific states will receive. This is an absolute disgrace, and I called on the President to stop playing politics with American lives.

Worst Jobs Report Yet
It’s a new year, but we are still — unfortunately — missing the mark on the economy and other crises. In fact, Friday’s jobs report was the worst of Joe Biden’s presidency. Instead of economic growth and a roaring recovery, we are seeing disappointing trends and another dismal jobs report. The U.S. economy added just 199,000 jobs during the month of December, falling well short of economists’ forecasts. Expectations ranged from 400,000 to 475,000, and the labor force participation rate remains unchanged at 61.9 percent.

Inflation is on the rise. Real wages are decreasing. With 11 million job openings and small businesses struggling to find employees, it is long past time that we incentivize Americans to get back to work. It’s clear that the policies of the Biden Administration and Congressional Democrats are failing. On top of that, the administration's pursuit of unconstitutional vaccine mandates is only exacerbating labor shortages. That’s exactly why I am fighting against the Biden Administration’s sweeping and nationwide Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) vaccine mandate on businesses—which is unconstitutional and an aggressive overreach of agency authority.

These measures will likely make workforce shortages worse as we are seeing throughout critical industries, including health care, child welfare, transportation, and education. I have helped introduce legislation like the No Vaccine Mandate Act and also staunchly support the lawsuit challenging the mandates.

On Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court heard a challenge to President Biden’s overreaching vaccine mandate on America’s workforce. I recently signed an amicus brief to the Court, asking it to stop the enforcement of this draconian mandate, which would be devastating for the more than 80 million workers to whom it would apply.

I am hopeful the Court will rule in favor of our Constitution and affirm that Americans have the right to make health care decisions for themselves, free from government coercion.

Thank You Law Enforcement Officers
Yesterday, we celebrated National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day! The daily heroism displayed by our law enforcement officers to protect our communities and loved ones never ceases to amaze and inspire. While some make a radical push to "defund the police," our men and women in uniform need our appreciation and support more than ever before.

To every member of our law enforcement – and the family members who worry if they’ll return home at night – we thank you for your service and your sacrifice. I will always back the blue!

Remembering Johnny Isakson

On Thursday, I had the honor of attending the memorial service for former U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson. He served Georgians at the state and federal level for decades as a fierce advocate for veterans and friend to everyone who met him.

Senator Isakson leaves a legacy of kindness, character, and strength through compassion that will never be forgotten. Our nation is a better place because of his service. Rest in peace, Johnny.

The Week Ahead
President Biden and Vice President Harris will be traveling to Atlanta on Tuesday to peddle their agenda to federalize our nation's election system. The truth is that elections should be run on the state level, and Georgia’s new law makes it easier to vote and harder to cheat.

Tonight, the House of Representatives will establish a quorum for the second session of the 117th Congress. The House will also consider the following pieces of legislation this week:

Quorum Call - Establishing a quorum in the House of Representatives for the Second Session of the 117th Congress
House Amendment to Senate Amendment to H.R. 5746 - NASA Enhanced Use Leasing Extension Act of 2021 (Subject to a Rule)
H.R. 1836 - Guard and Reserve GI Bill Parity Act of 2021 (Subject to a Rule)
Additional Legislative Items Are Possible

As always, I’m here to serve you. Please contact my office with any questions, comments, or concerns. Be sure to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube to keep track of upcoming legislation and events!
Sincerely,
