Dear Friends,

I had another outstanding week meeting with organizations and people who call the Third District of Georgia home. As your Congressman, one of my top priorities is working to ensure a healthy economy and the opportunity for every family to pursue and achieve the American Dream. Unfortunately, during this critical time when businesses of every size are struggling to keep their doors open, the Biden Administration is actively undermining the business community with radical Left-wing economic policies, proposed tax hikes, and overly generous unemployment benefits.

On Monday, I spoke with members of the Coweta County Cattlemen’s Association during a productive meeting about the beef industry and the challenges they’re currently facing. Topics of conversation ranged from the impacts of inflation to the Biden Administration’s push for tax hikes. I enjoyed having the chance to visit with everyone and learn more about the issues important to them. Thanks for having me!

Our area is fortunate to be home to some great schools and institutions. On Tuesday, I started the day joining folks at Temple High School for its “Invest 30” event and welcomed students back to the classroom! I was incredibly impressed to hear about how the school and community continue to “Carry the Banner.”

With the new school semester about to start, I wish all faculty, staff, parents, and kids a great year ahead – thanks for hosting me!

Committee Action
On Wednesday afternoon, the House Ways and Means Committee hosted a roundtable discussion with former Director of the National Economic Council Larry Kudlow and former U.S. Senator of Texas Phil Gramm to talk about the impacts of PresidentBiden's proposed tax hikes on the middle class.

During my Q&A, I asked the pair about the need to get folks back into the workforce, the overall economic impacts of enhanced unemployment benefits, and other incentives that keep people on the sideline. Click here to watch our conversation.

Honoring Our Heroes

Saturday marked National Purple Heart Day, when we as Americans pause to acknowledge and remember the sacrifices made by brave members of our military. Created in 1792, a Purple Heart – presented to service members who have been wounded or killed as a result of enemy action while serving – is a solemn distinction of duty.

May we never forget the service and sacrifice of the 1.8 million men and women who have received this honor.

President Biden Is Failing to Get Relief to Those Who Need It Most

Last week, President Biden extended the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) eviction moratorium—which the Supreme Court found unconstitutional—rather than addressing his own mismanagement of rental assistance programs. To be clear, the CDC does not, and should not, have the authority to legislate or restrict the property rights of Americans. Furthermore, the CDC is an agency that has no expertise in housing issues and therefore should not and cannot issue rulings on housing.

These programs have been so badly mismanaged that less than 7% of the $46 billion in funds allocated by Congress have actually been distributed to American renters in need. Biden’s decision to skirt the judicial branch to placate Democrats’ radical base instead of providing relief to those who need it is simply irresponsible and sets a dangerous precedent.
