Dear Friends,

Everything that Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and their big government socialist party touches ends in disaster. Instead of addressing real and critical issues like massive inflation and historic crime that are impacting everyday Americans, House Democrats took desperate legislative maneuvers to pass “voting rights” legislation last week. On Wednesday, in an absurd move, they air-dropped over 700 pages of election-related measures into H.R. 5746  – an unrelated NASA bill – which clearly has nothing to do with the right to vote. Why the avoidance of proper legislative procedure? Because tacking these measures onto H.R. 5746 would allow Democrats to avoid the Senate filibuster as they seek to centralize election control in the hands of the federal government and unelected bureaucrats.

The measures in their proposals are so radical that they know they won’t pass the required vote threshold in the Senate. So, their solution was to sneak them into the NASA bill. The Democrat majority has learned that if they can’t pass a bill on its own merit, they should just change the rules of the game. No real hearings. No debate. No standalone bill. That’s what you need to know about legislation set to bankroll the political campaigns of Speaker Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, eliminate election fraud prevention statutes, and disregard viable, Constitutional state laws in Georgia and across the country. Unfortunately, it's not surprising coming from the party actively moving to grant foreign nationals the ability to vote in U.S. elections. The only things being suppressed are the bedrock principles of our Constitutional republic.

I vehemently opposed this legislation, which would:
  • Give billions of taxpayer dollars to political campaigns. Speaker Pelosi could receive up to $22 million in public dollars for her reelection campaign, and Senate Majority Leader Schumer could get up to $44 million for his reelection campaign;
  • Transform the office of the U.S. Attorney General into an unelected, unaccountable "Elections Czar" with the power to change state elections laws and circumvent state Constitutional processes;
  • Force states to legalize ballot harvesting;
  • Make it harder for states to maintain their voter lists;
  • Disregard state voter identification laws and provisional ballot rules; and
  • Impose liberal California voting methods on every state.

As I have said before, the ability to vote is one of the most sacred rights we have as citizens of our great republic. It’s a privilege that must be protected. Attempts to centralize election control in the hands of the federal government and unelected bureaucrats will do anything but that.

The Constitution is clear—these rights are reserved to the states. I recently penned an op-ed in Fox News to condemn President Biden’s condescending and patently false speech in Atlanta last Tuesday. Click here to read the full piece.

Big Win for American Jobs and Freedom

Last Thursday, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) ruled against the Biden Administration’s sweeping federal government vaccine mandate on private businesses. I applaud SCOTUS for reiterating what I said from the start: President Biden’s attempted vaccine mandate on businesses is a complete overreach and downright unconstitutional. The federal government has no right to dictate the medical decisions of private employers – or individuals.

Simply put, this is a win for freedom and the American people.

Friend of the Family
As someone who stands for pro-family issues and the defense of life, I’m humbled to receive the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Friend of the Family award for my work during the first half of the 116th Congress. Advancing the values of faith, family, and freedom is a task that I take very seriously, and I will continue to work tirelessly as an advocate for these conservative principles in Washington.
Biden's War on Parents
Joe Biden promised the American people that he would work to re-open schools in his first 100 days in office. Unfortunately, this was yet another broken promise and his administration has chosen to work with teacher union bosses to keep schools closed and label parents “domestic terrorists.”

Under Biden’s disastrous leadership, remote learning for many kids is becoming the new normal. It’s long past time to empower parents and give them say in their children’s education. Furthermore, parents are right to be concerned about their kids being taught to hate America or exposed to inappropriate instructional materials.

My colleagues and I stand in strong opposition to Biden’s war on parents and are working to protect parental rights and expand school choice, not further empower an already out-of-control federal government.

Praying for Texas
Like many of you, I was horrified by Saturday’s hostage standoff at Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, Texas. I am thankful for the local, state, and federal law enforcement officers who acted bravely and effectively to rescue those hostages and bring this situation to a safe conclusion, and I strongly condemn the antisemitic hate that fueled this heinous act. I want the families and community members impacted to know that I stand beside you, I’m praying for you, and I’ll continue working to eradicate the scourge of antisemitism.

Go Dawgs!

How ‘Bout Them Dawgs! I was proud to join our state’s entire Congressional delegation in congratulating the Georgia Bulldogs on an incredible football season and historic national championship victory over Alabama.

It’s always great to be a Georgia Bulldog, and I applaud the achievements of all players, coaches, and staff who contributed to our first national championship in over 40 years.

The Week Ahead
Yesterday, we celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. As a pastor, a leader, a Georgian, and an American hero, he showed us that one good man has the power to change the course of history and inspire generations to fight for a better future. May we never forget his dream.

The House will consider the following pieces of legislation this week:

S. 2959 - Supplemental Impact Aid Flexibility Act
Senate Amendment to H.R. 1192 - Puerto Rico Recovery Accuracy in Disclosures Act of 2021
S. 1404 - Ghost Army Congressional Gold Medal Act
S. 452 - Willie O'Ree Congressional Gold Medal Act
H.R. 4673 - EVEST Act (Structured Rule, One Hour of Debate)
Additional Legislative Items Are Possible
