Dear Friends,

Last week, Washington Democrats operated under more of the same dysfunction and chaos as usual. As predicted, nothing has changed since the last government funding deadline in September. Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her cronies failed to govern and once again allowed the clock to tick down on yet another budget deadline, bringing us to the brink of a government shutdown.

Despite controlling the White House, House of Representatives, and Senate, the Democrats have flopped and have yet to enact into law a single appropriations bill this entire year. None of the 12 appropriations bills, which are supposed to be completed before the start of the new fiscal year on October 1st, have passed both chambers. They have not addressed our most basic duty — and the blame lands squarely at their feet. It has been months since the last continuing resolution (CR) was passed, and they have had ample time to reconcile policy differences and fulfill their appropriations duties.

So why didn’t Congress complete its work?

My colleagues on the other side of the aisle have refused to negotiate, debate, or make any attempt to include Republicans in any semblance of bipartisan discussion. Instead of reaching a full-year deal on government funding or even a top-line agreement on funding levels, the majority has been fixated on advancing their big-government, socialist agenda and adding tax increases every chance they can find. This has resulted in the need for another stopgap that punts our Constitutional funding responsibilities down the road.

The mere suggestion that Republicans refused to cooperate on full-year appropriations bills is an outright lie. Democrats held Congress captive — and used every procedural tactic in the book — to jam a far-Left boondoggle through the House. Simply put, I opposed the CR. Besides irresponsible governance, CRs negatively impact the nation at large. They put at risk our national security and our military, as well as countless government agencies, which can’t plan long term, make sound financial decisions, or execute critical projects. Furthermore, emergency stopgap bills are also typically utilized as must-pass legislation, which means many folks try to take advantage and tack on bad policy priorities or unnecessary spending. For example, I don't believe a CR providing funding for federal agencies should be utilized for President Biden’s unconstitutional federal vaccine mandates. The White House’s attempt to impose a vaccine mandate on private businesses is a complete federal overreach and downright unlawful.

Without question, our nation has been faced with crisis after crisis under the Biden Administration. The American people are begging for leadership and effective governance, and I stand ready to help address the many challenges we face — border crisis, skyrocketing inflation, severe supply chain bottlenecks, workforce shortages, emboldened adversaries, abandoned American citizens in Afghanistan, our deficit and debt, and more.

Defending the Sanctity of Life

Last week, the United States Supreme Court held a hearing on the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case. This case will decide the Constitutionality of a Mississippi law that supports life by banning abortion 15 weeks after conception. It is my hope that the Court will uphold the Constitutionality of this law, which will set the stage for Roe v. Wade to be overturned, ushering in a new era where life is valued and protected.

I stand committed to the truth that life begins at conception, and I will continue to promote a culture that values and treasures life.

Honoring An American Hero
Yesterday, our nation lost a true American hero and patriot – Senator Bob Dole. From his bravery in the Army during World War II to his decades in Congress, Senator Dole defined what it means to faithfully serve America. The strength and courage he displayed after being grievously wounded on the battlefield in Italy in 1945 is simply remarkable. Few thought he could ever recover from his injuries but through sheer will he transformed himself, ultimately becoming one of the Republican Party’s most revered leaders of the 20th century. I extend my prayers to his wife Elizabeth, the entire Dole family, and the people of Kansas as they mourn this tremendous loss. Our nation will never forget the patriotism and many invaluable contributions made by Senator Dole.

Another Disappointing Jobs Report
The November jobs report was another in a long list of disappointing reports this year. The U.S. economy added less than half of the total expected jobs last month. What else does this jobs report show? Americans are facing an economic crisis created by President Biden's failed and reckless policies.

Democrats have made it clear that they care more about enacting their big-government socialist platform than rebuilding our economy – and hardworking Americans are suffering as a result.

The Grinch is Coming
Without question, President Biden has lost control of the White House, and Americans have lost confidence and trust in this administration. Big-government Democrats are going down an increasingly socialist path, and everyday folks continue to reject their policies at every turn. With skyrocketing inflation continuing across the country, and the national average price for gas up 56%, President Biden continues to ignore the economic crisis of his own making.

Instead of addressing the rising energy prices head-on, this administration decided on a band-aid approach by releasing 50 million barrels from our nation’s oil reserve before Thanksgiving. Just last week, we saw Democrats across the board celebrating gas prices being down just 2 cents.

This sham move is only being pushed by the Biden Administration to mislead the public. It’s insulting that they would falsely lead the American people into believing this nonsense. I recently joined National Report with my friend and fellow Georgia colleague Congressman Barry Loudermilk (GA-11) to discuss this failure of the Biden Administration and more.

The Week Ahead

December 7, 1941 is a day our nation can never forget. Tomorrow, we as Americans will pause to remember the brave patriots who lost their lives in the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor and will recognize members of the Greatest Generation who immediately stepped up to defend our freedom. We thank those who answered the call to defend the freedoms we hold dear after the attack, and for all who continue to answer that call today.

Rep. Ferguson to Newsmax: Dems 'Going Alone' on Deal to Fund Government
Newsmax
Democrats have been "going alone" on reaching a deal on a continuing resolution to keep the government funded, but they're "wasting time" while Americans are suffering, Rep. Drew FERGUSON, the chief deputy whip for the House GOP Conference, said on Newsmax Thursday.  "I can't tell you what's in that deal," the Georgia Republican said on Newsmax's "Wake Up America." "Democrats have been going on alone on this. They have just been wasting time. American families are hurting from inflation, gas prices, there are crises looming all over the world, whether it's in the Ukraine or whether it's you know, travel bans. So many things are happening right now, and the Democrat majority can't do get their act together to fund the government."
