“It’s simply unacceptable for an individual dealing with Social Security Number-related identity theft to face numerous bureaucratic obstacles, re-explain their situation to multiple employees, and navigate contradicting information to resolve the issue,” said Chairman Ferguson. “Time is of the essence when an individual is dealing with potential identity theft which is why I introduced the Improving Social Security’s Service to Victims of Identity Theft Act. This important bill streamlines the process to a single point of contact at the Social Security Administration to help folks resolve their issue more efficiently. I applaud the passage of this legislation in the House and encourage the Senate to quickly act.”
