Dear Friend,
I hope this newsletter finds you and your family well! If you would like to share this newsletter with others, please direct them to this link and encourage them to subscribe. This week, we’re back in D.C. and working hard to pass appropriations bills – and keep our government funded. House Republicans remain committed to bringing accountability back to the appropriations process by passing all 12 appropriations bills through regular order.
With the government spending drastically more than it is taking in, Americans are left staring down an unsustainable federal deficit – with our debt rising to a number without precedent in American history. Big-government cannot continue to spend trillions of dollars we do not have each year. We must make the responsible choices to stop the mismanagement of taxpayer dollars – and get America’s fiscal house under control. As we work through more appropriations bills, I encourage folks to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Instagram for updates.

My Republican colleagues and I are fighting to stop the Biden Border Crisis from continuing to destroy communities across America. Last month, FBI Director Christopher Wray warned that the war between Israel and Hamas has led to a spike in terrorist threats against the United States. In fact, the U.S. is currently at the highest risk of a terrorist attack in nearly a decade. This is coupled with record high illegal border crossings. Federal officials have even told us that members of Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and Hezbollah could be coming into our country through the southern border. It is clear that Biden’s border policies are not keeping us safe. The prerogative of this administration is to ignore our laws, thereby incentivizing unlawful migration. By not enforcing current law, we are witnessing unaccompanied children being trafficked and Americans losing their lives to the scourge of fentanyl. House Republicans know that border security is national security. That is why we passed the Secure the Border Act earlier this Congress, which is the strongest border security package in American history. It’s long past time for the Biden administration to act.

Last week, the Ways and Means Committee held a hearing on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) regulations. The Biden Administration’s ESG mandates are hurting seniors and retirees. Instead of focusing on maximizing returns for seniors, asset managers are now required to invest hard-earned retirement savings in pursuit of liberal climate goals. As Ways and Means Republicans established in the hearing, the Democrats' virtue signaling is expensive – and that cost falls on every hardworking American.
In my questions, I reminded my colleagues that the American people do not want politicians in Washington telling them what they can and cannot invest their money in, and ESG mandates are just another example of how radical “Bidenomics” policies do not work for everyday Americans.
