Congressman Drew Ferguson (R-Ga.), a member of the Education and the Workforce Committee, Wednesday hosted a Higher Education roundtable with university leaders from the Third District. The meeting was hosted by Columbus State University and covered a number of issues facing Third District institutions of higher education including flexibility in regulatory compliance, accreditation, student success and financial aid literacy. “As the Education and the Workforce Committee looks to reauthorize higher education legislation, the Higher Education Act, I am focused on learning from our expert university leaders as they create fruitful community partnerships to educate students in the Third District,” said Ferguson. “These leaders are committed to giving student the opportunity to develop lifelong skills and take on meaningful careers. I am thankful to Columbus State University for hosting this opportunity to hear from our university leaders.” “I really appreciated the opportunity to talk with Congressman Ferguson about the issues impacting higher education today,” said Columbus State University President Chris Markwood. "He is asking the right questions, and it is obvious he is trying to identify potential barriers to student success in Georgia’s colleges and universities.” Roundtable participants included LaGrange College, Point University, Columbus State University, University of West Georgia and Gordon State College. ### |
