Today Congressman Drew Ferguson (R-Ga.) voted to pass H.R. 2353, the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act. This legislation is vital to supporting Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, like the many across Georgia’s Third District. “As I have spoken with folks back home, I have heard time and again from business owners the importance of training a new generation of skilled workers,” said Ferguson. “In fact, Kathy Carlisle, from THINC Academy in LaGrange, testified in front of the Education & Workforce Committee today. Dr. Carlisle shared how THINC has contributed to a community revitalization success story - what happens when local leaders, the business community and innovative educators come together to develop career tech programs that meet our workforce needs. This bill will continue to support these opportunities, increasing funding and giving states more flexibility to implement innovative programs like the ones across Georgia’s Third District.” Ferguson was one of eight original cosponsors who introduced H.R. 2353 on May 5, 2017. Since introduction he has worked with his colleagues to pass the bill in the House and urged the Senate to take up and pass the bill, which they did earlier this week. The bill passed by voice and now heads to the President’s desk to be signed into law. You can watch video of Congressman Ferguson speaking in support of this bill by clicking here. ### |
