– Congressman Drew Ferguson’s (R-Ga.) today attended the signing of an executive order at the White House. The executive order signed by President Donald Trump will direct the Secretary of Education to ensure Department of Education regulations conform with laws requiring state and local control of education. The Secretary of Education will need to modify or rescind any regulations that are not in compliance. “One of the key concerns education leaders in the Third District continue to raise is federal overreach in our educational institutions, programs, policies and curricula,” said Ferguson. “The policies and standards that work in Georgia will not always be what works for students throughout the country. It was an honor to watch President Trump sign this executive order that will return control to our state and local leaders and reign in the tangle of regulations improperly dictating aspects of our children’s education.”
