Ferguson Votes to Move AHCA Forward

Washington, DC, March 16, 2017

Congressman Drew Ferguson (R-Ga.), a member of the Committee on the Budget, today voted to pass the American Health Care Act (AHCA) out of the House Office Budget Committee.

“This legislation is just the first step towards creating a patient-centered, market-driven health care system,” said Ferguson. “With this legislation, I am keeping my promise to Third District residents to repeal Obamacare and bring patient-centered reforms to the health care marketplace. The American people deserve meaningful access to care and the freedom to choose the health care that best fits their needs. By empowering Americans to make their own health care decisions, we preserve the all-important conversation between patients and their doctors and allow the free market to drive health care costs down.”

Last night, Ferguson spoke on the House floor to highlight the transparent process the AHCA has gone through as it has been considered by the House of Representatives, including today’s hearing in the Committee on the Budget. To watch the video, click here.

The bill passed the House Committee on the Budget by a vote of 19-17.
