Congressman Drew Ferguson (R-Ga.) today released the following statement on how tax reform is already helping Georgians: “I have long said that the United States should be the best place in the world to do business, and the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is already providing a better climate for American job creators and workers. Since this legislation was signed into law, over one hundred companies have announced new investments in their employees. Many of these investments will directly benefit Georgians who will also begin seeing more money in their paychecks as a result of these tax cuts.” Columbus-based Aflac announced they would increase investments by $250 million in the U.S. and increase the company’s 401(k) match for employees, from 50% to 100% on the first 4% of employee contribution and make a one-time contribution of $500 to each employee’s account. Total System Services (TSYS), another Columbus-based company, gave their employees bonuses as a result of tax reform as did Georgia companies Carl Black and Yancey Bros. Georgia-based Sun Trust and United Parcel Service also announced additional investments in their employees and communities including pay increases, increases to retirement savings and capital investment. Under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, a Third District family earning the median household income of $56,240 will receive a tax cut of $2,066.
