Congressman Drew Ferguson (R-Ga.) today released the following statement praising Georgia Power’s announcement that customers will receive $1.2 billion in benefits because of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act: “The success of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act continues to grow. I am thrilled to see that Georgians will continue to see direct benefits because of this legislation, including lower utility costs and additional service benefits from Georgia Power. Since this legislation was signed into law, over 400 companies have announced new investments in their workers and communities, and I look forward to seeing Georgians continue to thrive.” In an agreement with the Georgia Public Service Commission (PCS), Georgia Power announced that its customers will receive $1.2 billion in benefits thanks to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. This includes $130 million in reduced taxes on financing costs for the Vogtle nuclear expansion, direct credits to customers of $330 million over the next two years due to lower federal income tax rate and $700 million in future benefits. The benefits also include $43.6 million in refunds due to the high company performance in 2016.
