Congressman Drew Ferguson (R-Ga.) today released the following statement on the Treasury Department’s release of updated tax withholding tables based on the policy changes made by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act: “These new withholding tables will update the way your employer calculates your take-home pay, meaning more money in your paycheck that you can spend as you see fit,” said Ferguson. “I have long said that Americans know how to spend their hard-earned money far better than bureaucrats here in Washington, and I am anxious for all Americans to be able to reap the benefits of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.” The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) encouraged employers to implement the new withholding tables quickly but said they should be in place no later than February 15, 2018. Workers will see changes reflected in their paychecks after employers adopt the new withholding tables.
